Bodum K1790-01 Yoyo Set - Cup and Plastic Infuser

Cheap mug but handy infuser - What to say about this? It s a glass mug containing a removable plastic tea infuser used for straining loose-leaf tea rather than tea bags, and it s made by Bodum, a company known for its modern styling (and high prices). The infuser is simply a plastic sieve that can be used in any cup or mug, which is handy because I don t find the glass one you get here to be particularly conducive to a nice tea drinking experience. It s not that it s bad, it just looks and feels a bit seventies - you know, like a prop from The Sweeney. Of course this might be your bag so don t let it put you off, I would have just preferred it if Bodum had supplied a nicer cup or maybe sold the infuser on its own.The infuser itself is very effective at straining tea - the smallest particles do tend to get through, as I m sure they would with any other strainer or infuser, but this really doesn t affect the drink at all. It also feels well made and seems like it should last a long time, though you will notice that the white plastic mesh becomes stained quite quickly and this staining isn t easy to remove. Tea also has a tendency to get stuck at the bottom, so a thorough clean is required after every use. I don t think it says on the packaging that you can clean it in the dishwasher, but I regularly wash mine this way and it doesn t seem to harm it at all.It s a little difficult to get too excited about a glass mug with a plastic sieve inside, but if you re in the market for something to make your loose-leaf tea in, and don t need a whole pot, this is probably the quickest and easiest solution.
